Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest on Multiple Charges

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — At approximately 12:45 a.m. on Oct. 18, 2025, Grand Junction Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of D 1/2 Road and 29 Road. During the investigation, officers observed suspected drug paraphernalia and a large knife in the vehicle. Further investigation revealed multiple checkbooks not belonging to the suspect and burglary tools, police said.

The driver, identified as Luis Aceves-Mancilla, 20, was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

  • Criminal Possession of an Identification Document — Two or More
  • Criminal Possession of Four or More Financial Devices
  • Possession of Burglary Tools
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Possession of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance
  • Theft $2,000–$5,000
  • Theft of License Plate
  • No Insurance in Possession
  • Operated/Permitted Use of Unregistered Vehicle
  • Vehicle Had No Plate Attached
  • Vehicle with Defective Headlamps
  • Driving with Revoked License — Aggravated
